Cancer remains a major cause of death in Kenya and with it comes many challenges, especially to the patients from remote rural areas who are financial prohibited from seeking proper Medicare through diagnosis, administration of chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy, and performing of surgery. Many children have witnessed illnesses of their parents and relatives and they carry fears and anxieties related to their kins undergo such pain. In line with our mission of providing a whole-person care to the cancer Patients in the rural remote areas and ensuring that the relevant spiritual needs of the patients are taken into consideration, our pastors and spiritual leaders are doing door-to-door visitations and making efforts to support the cancer patients and their families’ ongoing needs in order to promote compassionate palliative care. Such patients require attention beyond the conventional medical treatment of symptoms, and this holistic approach focuses on an all-encompassing care, addressing the myriad aspects of the patient’s well-being and their families.
